On Saturday the Indiana Pacers beat the Atlanta Hawks in a game 7 of the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs. That’s right, I said game 7.
The Hawks being an 8th seed took the Pacers for a ride all the way to game 7. The Hawks were even leading the series at one point 3-2.
They had a chance to close out the series in game 6 in Atlanta on their home court but didn’t. I won’t say they choked out of respect and effort of the season they put together.
Let’s not forget the Hawks star Al Horford went down with a season ending injury in December.
The series first took a surprise turn with the Hawks stealing game 1 against the 1 seed Pacers. Jeff Teague with 28 and Paul Millsap with 25 stepped up as leaders of the raid on the Pacers.
The way both these guys played this series really made a believer out of me. They have a lot of guts to bring the fight and they deserve a lot of credit.
With that said there’s still some pieces missing for them. Keeping the same team next year won’t get them to where they want to go. I have a feeling they’ll want to make some moves this off season.
